Weekly Wrap (18th November 2016)
It’s been a very busy week for Preschool this week, with Play Mornings for next year’s families as well as Family-Educator interviews throughout the week. During the Play Morning family visits, it was wonderful to see the Kangaroo children stepping up to the responsibility of inviting those new, younger children to join their play, showing kindness and making them feel comfortable & included. We were so proud of all the children.
It is always good to meet with parents for an extended period of uninterrupted time – we had some good discussions with parents who were able to attend the Family-Educator interviews. These times that were intentionally set aside allowed us to have in-depth, collaborative discussions that build deeper, mutual understandings in relation to achieving best outcomes for individual children.
Children continued their very busy week of learning as always. There were many conversations throughout the week, within small as well as large groups; in relation to kindness, being inclusive, helping each other and much more. Although developing an understanding for kindness and all the other emotions cannot be developed in a short time frame and is embedded within the social-emotional goals of our Preschool program, kindness week was an opportunity to have extended discussions and focus on some specifically chosen stories.
Wallabies have been enjoying reading Dr. Suess stories in the last few days – we read some of our favourite Dr. Suess stories that Lucy, Sebastian, Miss Leah and Miss Namita brought in from home.
